still here

how is it

that after all this time

i am still here

writing these words

that have gone no where

certainly not to you

cut it out

cut it all out

remove the phone

destroy the mailbox

demolish the hydro towers

stamp out the flames

massacre the pigeons

chop off all the hands

cut out the tongues

all of it must go

for all of it tries to

speak to you

again

i used to feel

too much

now i feel

too little

and i feel that this

is too much for most

to handle

am i back to poetry

after all these years

couldn’t i have something better

maybe something like you
