the worst thing

is that things

could get worse

such as in

the fear that i have lost you

even if you aren’t

mine anymore

i spent my entire life

hearing about love

preparing for love

anticipating love

then you came

and i realized

love wasn’t enough

of an entirety

and

i hadn’t spent my life

yet
