clouds as teeth
against your blue
shaping into sweet supple nothings
that have milked everything
from my bite
except for you staying solid
and untouched by the allure
of flight in the sky
as a baby unaware it was born
without wings
*
time between us
old lovers
fumbling wrinkles and curves
unwanted through wanting each other
after years of not
and too much pain and suffering
and us
pained suffered
and timed to other things
beyond between besides us
*
life is the heaviest
weight
though death does shoulder
the earth
and too much living
*
the most frightful thing
is not that we’ll talk again
after it all
but that we won’t
